Department of Cultural Outreach
Since its foundation, the Department of Cultural Outreach has targeted its efforts towards fostering, spreading, and promoting culture and artistic expressions as fundamental pillars for the construction of civic responsibility and the improvement of people’s relationships.
The Department of Cultural Outreach was created by Board of Trustees Ordinance No. 23 of October 4, 1946.
This central concept has encouraged the development of institutional programs and projects that generate new interactions between education and culture and contribute to training the university community, and the citizens in general, with a global vision and a more pluralistic perception of the surroundings.
Moreover, as part of its role to support the cultural development of the different regions, the university has committed to generate spaces where each region can understand, value, and analyze its cultural reality, recognizing itself and interrelating through dialogs with other cultures and contexts in the local, regional, national, and international spheres.
This department prepares an open and inclusive program with national, international, classical, and contemporary proposals in the different types of art. Likewise, it takes part in the cultural offer of the city and the country. Also, for 50 years, it has led, along with the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, the National Culture Awards, which encourage and highlight the work of national artists.
Head of the Department of Cultural Outreach
