Academic units comprise the university's schools, colleges, institutes and academic corporations.
The schools (also called faculties) are the core academic units of the University. UdeA boasts fourteen schools, each autonomous in its programs, its admissions, its faculty and its support. Schools are led by the deans.
Schools work in close collaboration to meet their goals as well as the University’s mission, principles and goals.
The main function of the colleges is to provide research-based programs. They offer majors and concentrations in research and extension, as well as graduate programs including master’s, PhD and postdoctoral degrees as well as undergraduate programs and specialties. Colleges are led by directors.
Like the colleges, institutes offer academic programs with an emphasis on research including majors and concentrations, undergraduate and graduate programs as well as specialties. Institutes are also led by directors.
