Graduate Degree Programs – School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences

The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Universidad de Antioquia is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its 2017 graduate programs. Our wide range of graduate degree programs include master’s and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. 

PhD in Biotechnology

The purpose of the Biotechnology PhD program is to train highly skilled professionals who are able to use biotechnology to aid in the solution of a variety of ecological, social, industrial and economic issues. Graduates of the PhD program are also prepared to develop and implement a wide variety of basic and applied research projects. In addition, they will be able to effectively generate and transfer first hand knowledge of the biotechnology field.

PhD in Chemistry

Graduates of the PhD in Chemistry are well prepared to conduct rigorous research in an independent manner, lead research groups, manage research projects and generate new knowledge in their areas of expertise.     

PhD in Physics

Graduates of the Physics PhD Program are characterized by their solid background in the field and efficient use of the methodological tools. They have the skills required for conducting research in the field of physics and for successful careers in areas including business and higher education.  

PhD in Mathematics

This graduate degree program equips students with the skills and knowledge required to conduct research in mathematics, develop and lead research projects in the mathematical field, provide research training for both undergraduate and graduate students, and to meet the challenges facing today’s higher education.

Biology Graduate Programs (PhD – MA)

UdeA Department of Biology offers graduate degree programs leading to both the Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The graduate programs in biology give a student a range of career options. Students with a graduate degree in biology are prepared to conduct high-quality scientific research, while they develop the skills and expertise needed to interact with their peers, perform effective knowledge transfer, and foster the development of the scientific community.  

Graduates will be able to identify and solve a variety of specific problems of ecological, social, industrial and economic impact. Career opportunities include areas such as research, teaching, and goods and services. 

Master of Chemical Sciences

Graduates of the Master of Chemical Sciences will be able to actively participate in a wide range of research groups, and are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to implement and generate new knowledge, develop groundbreaking research projects, and effectively disseminate research findings.

MA in Teaching Mathematics

Graduates of the Master in Teaching Mathematics will have the expertise and knowledge required for careers as mathematics teachers in secondary education institutions across the country and abroad.    

Master of Physics

Students of the Master’s Degree in Physics are provided with the advanced methodological tools and skills they need to succeed as researchers in the field of physics, and for successful careers in the business and higher education sectors.

Master of Mathematics

Graduates of the Master of Mathematics are equipped with a solid scientific background and expertise required to produce outstanding research in the mathematical field, engage in a variety of interdisciplinary research projects, and pursue a PhD in mathematics. They also develop the skills they need to meet the challenges of today’s higher education.
